The kitchen is one of the most versatile places in the house. In its original conception, the kitchen is the room in which we prepare food, but that was before. Today, it has become a space in which we eat our meals, meet up with friends to chat, read our favorite book, or even work in front of our computer. It is for these multiple reasons that this place must be properly lit. As a general rule, kitchen lighting is chosen based on its configuration. Different types of wall lights are required depending on whether your home is equipped with an open kitchen or a closed kitchen.

Don't neglect functional lighting
A kitchen is said to be perfect when it is stylish, functional and comfortable at the same time. When individuals arrange their kitchens, they tend to think primarily about furniture, floor coverings, wall coverings and household appliances. Kitchen lighting often wrongly takes second place, but it is on it that the success of the desired atmosphere depends.
You are wrong if you think that general lighting, even at high power, is sufficient in a kitchen. As it only generally illuminates this space, lighting and visual comfort will be lacking. Don't just settle for this main lighting and focus a lot more on functional lighting.
Know that functional lighting will be of great use to you when you are above the stove. It will allow you to properly light the places where you are used to practicing your art, such as the sink, the work surface or the hob. Thanks to the functional kitchen wall lights which are distributed everywhere, you will rediscover the pleasure of cooking.
Although functional lighting performs the same functions in a kitchen, they differ depending on the areas to be illuminated. So, to illuminate a work surface for example, homogeneous light placed under wall units is an excellent alternative. To obtain this homogeneous effect , you can opt for extra-flat LED spots, LED strips or light strips.

The need to install a pendant light or other light source in the center of the room
A pendant or ceiling light is perfect for main lighting in the center of the room. These two lights will allow you to illuminate the kitchen in a very uniform way when you do not turn on the functional lighting. As for the pendant lights themselves, you will be spoiled for choice, but the fashion is currently for the ball, the wicker pendant light and the spider chandelier. As long as you use an LED bulb with your pendant lights, the energy savings will always be optimal.

Attention ! Just because the pendant serves as the main lighting in your kitchen doesn't mean you need to equip it with a powerful LED. The dazzling effect produced by the powerful LED bulb may cause occupants to feel uncomfortable. This will make this room lose all its charm.
Light up the interior of furniture to gain depth and illumination
The interior of the furniture must be lit in the same way as the different areas of the kitchen. Just like the refrigerator or the dressing rooms, the interior which lights up instantly when you open them will allow you to find the accessories you need more quickly. Along the same lines, it is also easier to store objects in cupboards and splashbacks whose interior is lit.
Many lighting solutions are offered for the interior of furniture. You will have the choice between LED lighting with a switch and autonomous LED lighting with batteries. Rest assured, it is not at all tiring to use LED lighting with switch for the interior of furniture. Moreover, this model is compatible with the roller switch which is easily positioned behind the furniture door and which intuitively activates the light when the door is opened.
As for battery-powered LED lighting, it is especially recommended for lighting the interior of furniture that is far from an electrical outlet. Generally, this lighting is accompanied by a motion detector which activates the light when it notices the slightest movement. Since the power supply is provided by batteries, energy consumption is lower.

Choosing the right color temperature
Color temperature is an important data to take into account when you want to optimize the lighting in a kitchen . Expressed in degrees Kelvin, the color temperature is the materialization of the light source . It can be warm white, cool white, blue, yellow or red, depending on the characteristics of the bulb.
For general lighting or ambient lighting, the ideal is to opt for warm white lighting of 3000 degrees Kelvin. Regarding functional lighting, it is best to use neutral white lighting with a color temperature between 4000 and 4500 degrees Kelvin.
If you want to instill a cozy atmosphere in your kitchen, a warm yellow light with a color temperature of between 3000 and 3500 degrees Kelvin will happily lend itself to this task. On the other hand, for a refined and designer atmosphere, white light with a color temperature between 4000 and 4200 degrees Kelvin is more appropriate.
You must take care to choose the light sources carefully if you want to mix. A certain harmony must be created if you want to turn on the main lighting and the functional lighting at the same time. Too much difference between color temperatures will not create the best effect.
Do not hesitate to install recessed (and fixed) spotlights and wall lights above the cupboards.
Recessed spotlights, fixed spotlights and wall lights placed above the cupboards will help to highlight this furniture, but also its contents. To further accentuate its aesthetics , the cupboard or the splashback, you have the choice between warm light and diffused lighting. It is true that there is only a little space between the top of the cupboard and the pendant light, but as the LED only heats up very little, it can stay on constantly.
You can also light the bottom of the furniture with warm white or yellow light strips, this will make them appear to be levitating.
