Well-chosen hallway lighting transforms a simple passageway into a focal point of the home.

Hallway lights are not just a detail: they guide movement, improve safety and enhance architectural features. In narrow, low-ceilinged or windowless spaces, lighting needs to be precise, even and glare-free. The best options are compact ceiling lights (20–40 cm diameter, height under 15 cm), slim wall lights or adjustable spotlights. Aim for a luminous flux of 800–1500 lumens per 4–6 m² to ensure optimal visibility with no dark patches. The ideal colour temperature is between 2700K and 3500K for a warm yet practical effect. Indirect lighting styles prevent unwanted reflections on pale walls or mirrors.

Which hallway lighting should you choose?

Ceiling lights: Perfect for low hallways (ceiling height < 2.5 m), they give a diffuse light and offer even coverage. Choose a colour rendering index (CRI) over 80 to avoid altering the shades of walls or artworks. LED models of 12–18W are recommended for a standard hallway.
