Which rattan lampshade for your style and space?

Finely woven rattan: Perfect for a pared-back or Scandi interior, the tight weave diffuses a soft, even glow. Choose a 30–40 cm diameter for bedrooms or reading corners—the fine weave limits glare, making it ideal for relaxing spaces.

Open-grid rattan: These designs with wide openings suit living spaces like lounges or dining rooms. A 50–60 cm diameter shade will light a table 120–180 cm long. The open weave accentuates light and shadow, casting graphic patterns on walls and ceiling.

How high should you hang a rattan lampshade?

For pendants over a table, hang the rattan shade 80–90 cm above the surface to prevent glare and ensure good lighting. In a living room, 200–220 cm from the floor is ideal to keep the space open. Floor lamps should place the shade 140–160 cm high for effective ambient light. For table lamps, opt for a 20–30 cm shade—great on bedsides or buffets.
