What size and brightness for each room?

The right ceiling light depends mainly on the space you need to illuminate. For living rooms of 20–30 m², choose a light offering 2000–3000 lumens, around 20–30 W in LED. For bedrooms of 12–15 m², 1200–1800 lumens is sufficient, with a colour temperature of 2700–3000 K for a cosy glow. In kitchens and bathrooms, opt for a model rated at least IP44 to resist splashes.

Mounting height is key: in a standard room (2.5 m ceiling), a flat or semi-recessed ceiling light keeps the space uncluttered and avoids bumps. With ceilings over 2.8 m, choose a pendant ceiling light hanging up to 40 cm, adding style without blocking movement.
