A spotlight brings precision lighting, sculpting light exactly where you need it.

Spotlights are the most versatile lighting solution for shaping your space, highlighting architectural details or creating a custom atmosphere. Compact and discreet, they come as recessed, adjustable or track options for all technical and decorative needs. As ceiling downlights, they deliver even, targeted lighting – ideal for living rooms, hallways or kitchens. As wall spotlights, they enhance artwork or worktops. Sizes range from mini 5cm spotlights for niches and cabinets, up to 15cm models suited to larger spaces. Most spotlights range from 3 to 15 watts, offering 250 to 1200 lumens, so you can match the light output to your room size.

What type of spotlight should you choose for the look you want?

LED spotlights: LED spotlights now set the standard, offering up to 90% lower energy use than halogen, a life span of over 30,000 hours, and a wide range of colour temperatures from 2700K (warm white) to 6000K (cool white). Recessed LED spotlights are ideal for false ceilings, needing only 3 to 7 cm of depth depending on the model.

Adjustable spotlights: Choose adjustable spotlights to direct beams where you want them. Beam angles range from 24° (narrow, perfect for accenting art) to 60° (general lighting). Some models rotate 360° and tilt up to 90°, giving you maximum flexibility.

Wooden spotlights: Wooden spotlights add warmth and a natural touch, perfect for Scandinavian or contemporary interiors. They pair beautifully with raw materials like concrete or stone and work equally well as ceiling or wall lights.

Metal spotlights: For an industrial or minimalist style, metal spotlights (steel, aluminium, brass) offer durability and a clean look. Choose matte black, chrome or gold finishes to create striking contrasts and enhance your room's character.

What wattage and placement make for effective spotlights?

Choose your spotlight wattage based on its function. For ambient living room lighting, use 300-400 lumens per square metre—typically 5-7 watt spotlights spaced 1.5-2 metres apart. In kitchens or bathrooms, pick at least IP44 models for resistance to humidity and opt for a neutral 4000K colour temperature. For task areas, use spotlights with 800-1000 lumens, positioned 60-80cm above the surface.

For hallways, spacing spotlights every 1.2-1.5 metres gives even lighting. In a 20m² room, use 6 to 8 seven-watt spotlights for main lighting. The beam angle also matters: narrow (24-36°) focuses the light, wide (60°) spreads it out.

For low ceilings (under 2.5m), ultra-slim spotlights (less than 4cm deep) help avoid a cramped effect. Adjustable models are best for multipurpose rooms or accent areas.

In contemporary living spaces, combining multiple track spotlights allows you to adjust lighting zones to suit your needs. For track systems, always check that your spotlights are compatible with the chosen track system (single or three phase).

How to match spotlights to your interior style?

Designer spotlights: Contemporary homes benefit from sleek spotlights in brushed brass or matte black. Minimalist models blend seamlessly into white ceilings or coloured walls, keeping the look light and uncluttered.

Industrial spotlights: In lofts or modern kitchens, industrial metal spotlights in black or galvanised steel—sometimes with a protective grille—bring a workshop vibe. Match them with industrial pendant lights for a coordinated effect.

Living room spotlights: In the living room, mix several adjustable spotlights to create a range of moods: reading, entertaining or relaxing. A dimmer switch lets you tailor the light for any time of day.

To keep your spotlights looking their best, dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, especially on lacquered or chrome finishes. Models with IP44 or higher clean easily with a slightly damp cloth.

For best results, always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines about minimum spacing between spotlights and from the surface you wish to illuminate. The right spotlight, correctly positioned, transforms your space and makes your décor shine.
