The single light switch is the most common type in any electrical installation—but that doesn't mean it has to be ordinary.

A single light switch controls one lighting circuit from a single point. This is the standard configuration for the majority of rooms: bedroom, office, kitchen, hallway. One switch turns one set of lights on or off, and you can't operate it from anywhere else. Simple, universal, reliable.

The only difference between models is the finish and style. At Lumeers, our range of single switches covers all contemporary finishes: matt black for truly modern interiors, brushed light grey with rounded edges for a softer and more versatile look, brushed dark grey for sophisticated, moody rooms, brushed gold for Parisian flats or Art Deco spaces, antique bronze for characterful homes, brushed aged grey for that lived-in patina, and matt white or matt white and gold two-tone for classic interiors.

Single light switch or two-way switch?

The difference matters before you buy. A single light switch controls a circuit from just one place—so if you turn the lights off as you enter a room, you’ll need to return to that spot to turn them on again. A two-way switch (also called an intermediate switch in some ranges) lets you control the same circuit from two points—such as both ends of a hallway or the top and bottom of a staircase.

If you’re installing a switch in a room with just one entrance, a single switch will do. If you have two access points or want to operate the same lights from two places, choose a two-way switch. When in doubt, check your current set-up or ask an electrician—replacing a single switch with a two-way switch usually means updating your wiring.

Straight edges or rounded edges: which style to choose?

Our collection is available in two main design lines. The straight-edged range—with crisp angles and a geometric plate—suits contemporary and industrial interiors that embrace strong visual lines. The rounded-edged range is softer and offers a modern feel that’s less bold—fitting into a wide variety of interiors without making a statement. Both ranges come in all our finishes.

For a truly polished result, try to match your single switch with your plug sockets and any double or triple switches you use. Consistency in your visible electrical fittings is a detail that’s always noticed—for better or worse.
