Boho lamps : faites le bon choix

Boho lighting strikes a balance between natural style and personality, never crossing into excess.

A boho lamp is the perfect choice for those seeking soft light, authentic materials and a cosy, welcoming look. These lights are available as table lamps, pendant lights, floor lamps or wall lights, using texture and finish to fit effortlessly into any interior. Designs in natural fibres, rattan, bamboo or linen are particularly popular for their ability to diffuse the light gently and create a warm, enveloping atmosphere. Sizes range from small bedside lamps of 20 cm in diameter, up to statement pieces 60 cm or larger for living rooms or hallways. More than just decoration, a boho lamp brings purpose to your lighting while adding handcrafted character and an artisanal touch to every space.

Which materials for a boho lamp?

Rattan: Hand-woven rattan creates a lightweight yet sturdy frame. A 30 to 40 cm rattan boho lamp gives off a diffused glow that’s perfect for a bedroom or reading corner. To clean, simply dust regularly using a dry cloth. For a coordinated look, pair it with a rattan lampshade in a matching finish.

Bamboo: More rigid than rattan, bamboo allows for distinctive openwork designs. A 25–50 cm bamboo boho lamp looks great on a bedside table or a sideboard. Use a 5–8 W LED bulb (400–700 lumens) to preserve the softness of the light.

Linen and cotton: Boho lamps in linen or cotton, often featuring pleated or fringed shades, naturally filter the light for a beautifully gentle effect. A 35 cm high design with a 2700 K bulb creates a warm mood in any living room or bedroom. These natural materials need gentle dry cleaning to keep them looking their best.

Wicker: With its rustic texture, wicker adds visual interest to a boho lamp. A 40 cm diameter model on a console table makes a statement while giving off artistic light patterns. For a fully coordinated look, explore our wicker pendant lights collection for your space.

Which boho lamp for each room?

Your choice of boho lamp depends on the light’s function and the size of the space. In a bedroom, a table lamp 25–35 cm high with a 4–6 W LED bulb (300–500 lumens) provides gentle accent lighting. For living rooms, choose a boho floor lamp 140–160 cm tall that can accommodate a 10–12 W bulb (800–1000 lumens) for general illumination. A colour temperature of 2700–3000 K is best for a soft, glare-free mood.

For a hallway or entryway, a boho wall light 20–30 cm wide set 160 cm from the floor adds structure without weighing down the space. In a dining room, choose a boho pendant of 50–60 cm diameter hung 75 cm above the table to provide even and decorative lighting. Openwork designs cast beautiful shadows—just use an opal bulb to avoid glare. For a harmonious style, pair your boho lamp with a boho floor lamp made from similar materials.

For a child’s bedroom, prioritise untreated natural fibres, free from varnishes or solvents, for clean air and safety. A 20 cm diameter model with a 3 W LED bulb makes a perfect soft night light.

Installation and care tips

When installing a boho table lamp, make sure the base is stable, especially on uneven surfaces. Rattan and wicker models are light: keep them out of reach of pets and young children. For pendants, hang them 75–90 cm above a table, or 210 cm from the floor in a main living space to ensure easy movement around the room.

The right care depends on the material. Rattan and wicker should be dusted with a soft brush or cleaned with a vacuum set to low suction. Linen and cotton need dry cleaning—avoid water and harsh products. To keep natural fibres from fading, don’t expose them to direct sunlight for long periods.

For a coherent, layered effect, combine your boho lamp with other lights in a similar style, such as a boho pendant or a boho chandelier in the same room. This lets you control the lighting atmosphere as you need throughout the day.
