These linen ceiling lights make a statement in any space where you want a warm, simple and authentic atmosphere. Their airy frames, often featuring hand-woven or washed linen shades, diffuse a soft glow perfect for contemporary, Scandinavian, or country-style interiors. Sizes range from XXL linen lights up to 80 cm in diameter for open-plan dining rooms, to more compact 40 cm designs ideal above a round table or in a bedroom. As a plant-based fabric, linen comes in a palette of natural tones—off-white, beige and pearl grey—sometimes paired with wood or metal finishes for the frame. Linen chandeliers suit both single central pendants or creative groupings, especially in spacious rooms.

Which type of linen chandelier is right for your room and style?

Natural linen chandeliers: Perfect for minimalist or Nordic spaces, these designs favour untreated fibres, visible weaves and understated shapes. A diameter of 50–60 cm suits a living room of 20 to 25 m², with an installation height at 210 cm from the floor for comfortable lighting. The linen weight (usually 180–250 g/m²) affects the light diffusion: thicker linen means softer, more diffused light.

Coloured linen chandeliers: For a more contemporary twist, some models come in pale grey, soft blue or terracotta. These shades coordinate beautifully with light walls and woodwork, letting you add a touch of colour with your linen light. Coloured versions often feature slim metal frames for a striking look.

Multi-arm linen chandeliers: Styles with 3 to 6 arms are ideal for large rooms or high ceilings. Choose E27 LED bulbs, 6–8 W (about 600–800 lumens each), for even lighting. Arm spreads up to 80 cm help illuminate a large table or entertaining area.

How high should you hang a linen chandelier?

Hanging height depends on the room and how you’ll use the light. Above a dining table, leave 75–90 cm between the tabletop and the bottom of the chandelier for optimum comfort. In lounges or hallways, the usual installation height is 210–220 cm from the floor, except for vaulted ceilings where you can hang lower, down to 180 cm for extra drama. For bedrooms, a linen chandelier 40–50 cm wide hung at 200 cm from the floor gives a cosy glow without dominating the space.

In a dining area, a linen chandelier pairs beautifully with a classic or modern dining chandelier, depending on the finish.

For bathrooms or damp spaces, choose at least an IP44 rating, though most linen chandeliers are designed for dry rooms. The ideal colour temperature is 2700–3000 Kelvin for a warm glow. Dimmable models let you adjust the brightness to suit your mood.

How to care for and style a linen chandelier?

Linen is a durable fibre but attracts dust. Regular dusting with an anti-static duster or a hoover with a brush attachment keeps your linen light looking its best. For stains, use a slightly damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Some linen shades are removable and washable at 30°C—always check the manufacturer’s instructions.

Linen chandeliers look stunning with other natural materials like light wood, rattan or ceramics. For a coordinated style, pair with a matching linen pendant in another room, or add textile accessories (cushions, curtains) in similar hues.

In a Scandinavian decor scheme, linen chandeliers complement a Scandinavian chandelier or a minimal pendant, playing with layered textures and clean lines.

For a boho or country home, team your linen chandelier with wicker lights or chunky wool rugs. For bulbs, choose LED filament models to combine that inviting linen glow with energy efficiency.
