More than just a decorative accessory, a wooden lamp shade adjusts brightness, directs the beam and protects the bulb, integrating seamlessly with both modern and rustic interiors.

Which wood types and finishes are best for a lamp shade?

Oak: Renowned for its density (700 kg/m³) and strength, oak features honey to light brown tones. An oiled oak shade easily handles LED bulbs up to 15 W. The surface can be brushed for texture or left smooth for a more minimal look.

Walnut: Darker (chocolate brown) and naturally satin, walnut hides marks well and brings a vintage or designer feel, especially in drum shades from 25 to 35 cm. It's commonly varnished to resist ambient humidity.
